Maria João Brito

Maria João Brito is a Ph.D. student in Modern Literatures and Cultures at NOVA University of Lisbon. Her research focuses, predominantly, on Anglo-Portuguese relations under the framework of Victorian Studies. She completed her Master’s degree in English and North-American Studies with a dissertation about the effect of Jack the Ripper’s crimes in the Portuguese press and on the cultural panorama, entitled “Jack, o Estripador” em Portugal (1888-2008).
Her main field of research is the Victorian Era, but she is also interested in Anglo-Portuguese Studies, Travel Writing, and Cultural Studies.
