Jorge Almeida e Pinho

Jorge M. C. Almeida e Pinho holds a PhD in Anglo-American Studies – Translation. He obtained a Masters in Translation and two Bachelors’ Degrees from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto (FLUP). Higher Education Professor since 1991, he currently is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra (FLUC). He was an Adjunct Professor at ESE-IPP between 2009-202 and he also taught at ISAG, as a Coordinator Professor until 2016.
Literary and technical translator since 1990 he translated a large number of famous authors: Noam Chomsky, Basil Davidson, Margaret Joan Anstee, Erwin Schrödinger, Mumia Abu-Jamal, Diane Ackerman, Kevin Lynch, Ernest Gellner, Russell Stannard, Jesse L. Jackson, Giovanna Borradori, Donovan Bixley, James Risen, Alex Shearer, Don Tapscott, Andy McNab, Ann Bridges, Susan Hill, Sara Maitland, George Bernard Shaw, Kitty Kelley, and Bram Stoker. Editor of the scientific translation journal Génesis from 2001 to 2007, he is a Researcher at CETAPS (Centre for English Translation and Anglo-Portuguese Studies).
He published works on translation, such as O Escritor Invisível (The Invisible Writer. 2006. QuidNovi) and A Tradução para Edição (Translation for Publishing. 2014. Edições U.P.), several academic papers in national and international journals and books, and co-edited (with Márcia Lemos) Literature and the Arts since the 1960s: Protest, Identity and the Imagination (2020, Cambridge Scholars Publishing).
