Helena Mota Lopes

Helena Mota Lopes is an EFL teacher in the 3rd Cycle of Basic Education and in Secondary Education. She has a background in teaching EFL to 11 to 12-year-old children and teenagers in state schools. She has also been involved in teacher training. She holds an MA in English Studies and she is a PhD student at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Nova University Lisbon, under the supervision of Prof. Ana Gonçalves Matos.

She is a member of CETAPS (Centre for English, Translation and Anglo-Portuguese Studies), recently joining the TEALS (Teacher Education and Applied Language Studies) research group. Her areas of interest include citizenship education, the use of picturebooks/ literary texts with young teenagers, and foreign language education.
