In commemoration of its 30th anniversary, the Lisbon branch of CETAPS, the Centre for English, Translation and Anglo-Portuguese Studies (an inter-institutional Research Unit based in two universities, Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Universidade do Porto), at Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas, Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, New University of Lisbon), is pleased to announce its 2nd International Conference on Anglo-Portuguese Studies, a 3-day conference on topics related to Anglo-Portuguese historical, literary and cultural relations.

We also welcome papers that make comparisons and connections between Portugal and Anglophone countries.

The Conference will be held in Lisbon, from Monday 18th to Wednesday 20th April 2011(over the Easter period).


We look forward to receiving proposals for 20-minute papers. Participants may also want to propose their own thematic panels, to include papers delivered by 3 or 4 participants. Please send your 250-300 word proposals in Portuguese or English, including name of speaker, institutional affiliation and position, full title of paper, a short biographical note and contact details (postal address and e-mail address), to arrive no later than 31 December 2010, simultaneously to:

Important dates:
Deadline for submission of proposals: 31 December 2010
Notification of acceptance: 15 January 2011
Deadline for registration: 4 March 2011
Registration fee: 100 € (regular registration)
Student fee: 35 €
Deadline for submission of complete papers to be considered for publication: 30 June 2011

Registration details will be posted online in January 2011 on the www.cetaps.com
Further information will be posted online in September 2010.

All speakers are responsible for their own travel arrangements and accommodation. Relevant information about hotels will be provided later on the CETAPS website.

The 2nd International Conference on Anglo-Portuguese Studies is hosted by CETAPS and supported by FCT (Foundation for Science and Technology).
