A Jornada ‘Portrayals of the Peninsular War: first-hand accounts and representations' teve como orador convidado o Professor Charles Esdaile.
Doutorado pela Universidade de Lancaster em 1986, foi docente nas Universidades de Durham e Southampton, sendo actualmente Professor Catedrático de História da Universidade de Liverpool.

 Embora a sua obra abarque o estudo de toda a Europa Napoleónica, dedicou-se em particular à Guerra Peninsular (1808-1814), sobre a qual escreveu numerosos artigos e livros. As suas publicações mais divulgadas são:
