Postdoc and Internationalisation Programme in Utopian Studies

Utopian Studies

The field of Utopian Studies is transversal. The interests and methodologies of different disciplinary areas converge in it and range from Literature and Culture to Architecture and the Fine Arts, as well as Anthropology, History, Philosophy and Human Geography. Utopia is thus studied in its most diversified manifestations: literary genre, critical, creative and active social thinking, and shared artistic intervention, with the aim of transforming society.

ARUS-PT

ARUS-PT (Advanced Research in Utopian Studies in Portugal) brings together researchers from four Portuguese universities who, since the year 2000, have been working in the field of Utopian Studies with CETAPS – Centre for English, Translation and Anglo-Portuguese Studies (University of Porto and New University of Lisbon) and ILCML – Institute for Comparative Literature Margarida Losa (University of Porto).

ARUS-PT members perform their work in constant contact with Utopian Studies researchers from a variety of European countries, such as Cyprus, Spain, France, Hungary, Ireland, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic and Poland, and non-European countries, such as Brazil, the United States and Canada. Through these contacts, the researchers enrolled in the Postdoc Programme will benefit from qualified support for their research projects and will have ideal conditions from the development of a network of contacts with the international academic community specialised in this field of studies.

The ARUS Postdoc and Internationalisation Programme is based at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto and is open to a broad range of subjects and perspectives informed by a utopian outlook.
